The most telling and revealing quote I heard at the ELI Annual Meeting conference:
"Everything will change when 'accreditation for schools' changes to 'accreditation for courses'."
Social networking efforts such as RateMyProfessor.com and those indicated by RatingZ.net may indicate that this happens due to market and social dynamics outside the control of formal accreditation agencies.

More like "Accreditation for Instructor/Course pairings", but that isn't as snappy sounding. :-)

My quote is more true to what the presenter said.
Your comment is more true to what probably will happen.
However, be aware of the negatives.
Instructors will spend more time “wasted” in "popularity contests" rather than teaching, learning, or people skill building. Instructors who don't have a good "video documentary" presence will get neglected. Students may rate on "fun" rather than "skill development".
This will result in a plethora of self-promoting “the only true accurate” rating systems competing with each other. Then, more confusion would follow from the negative ad campaigns as the different ranking systems compete.
Still, I believe the desirable benefits would out weigh the negatives.

well said. I think will also be true for classes where students have special needs or trade classes such as architecture, carpentry, fashion awareness, etc, etc. Actually one of my unique gadgets was made originally in SL - started out as something and a really good builder and programmer made it much more doable. Rehab engineering and I use it together whenever we build something i need.
